Okzanna Chow Chows is owned by Melite Kaajan in South Africa.
She has embarked on a new genetic program to establish a cream Chow Chow
bloodline in her country. Using imported semen from champion dogs, Melite has
led the first successful artificial insemination with frozen semen on chow chows
in South Africa in co-orperation with the world renowned
Onderstepoort Veterinary Institute of the University of Pretoria.

Her chow chows' pedigrees are HD 0:0 (Free of Hip Dysplasia)
tested for many generations. By importing dogs from these
well tested lineages and continuing to test her own dogs,
she is also encouraging other breeders in South Africa to
test their breeding dogs.

While she specializes in cream and smooth chows, her knowledge
and research in genetics has brought her the reputation of
a reponsible chow chow breeder who gives advice and inspiration
to many other breeders. Her microscopic research on
Colour Genetics is highly regarded by local tertiary institutions.

  She is also reknown for her success with Exotic- and Colourpoint Cats
where she refined her skills in colour genetics.
Although she has retired from breeding cats, her Champions still did
much winning at shows after her retirement.
Her cats are referred to by many as some of the highest quality stock
ever produced in her country.

Numerous articles and photographs of her champions have been
published in local and international animal magazines, including a
tribute to her in the Colourpoint Breeder's Group Magazine.

Due to health problems, Melite is unable to attend shows, but is proud that chow chows bred by her going into the show ring are recognized for their quality.

 
Melite is supported in her hobby by her husband, Jan Kaajan, who enjoys the chow chows as much as she does.
The Chow Chows are part of their family and they all enjoy the freedom of an enclosed property.
They also have the roam of the house & favorite spots to recline are on the outside bench.... or on the stairs!
